Tove Pils

Tove is a film director based in Gothenburg. They work with both documentary and fiction and hold a master’s degree in film from HDK-Valand. Tove’s first feature Labor premiered in 2023 at the Gothenburg Film Festival in the Nordic Documentary Competition, had its international premiere at CPH:Dox in the Nordic:Dox Award section, and has received an award for best documentary at Lovers Film Festival in Torino.


Desire and longing are central concepts in Tove’s filmmaking. Labor deals with sexual, economic and social desires. Sugar Oil Pine Water (Premiere Nordisk Panorama 2021) is a hybrid about the desire for queer ritual spaces. PUSH ME (Premiere Uppsala Short Film Festival 2014) is about the longing for spaces to explore sexual desires and fantasies.
