Born 1993 in Stockholm, Sweden. Lia Hietala first started out as director’s assistant to Swedish director Ninja Thyberg in 2014. She has since then directed two fictional short films herself; If I Say No (2016) and My Gay Sister (2017). My Gay Sister became a big international success and won the prestigious TEDDY Award at Berlinale, worlds biggest queer film award. During the fall of 2018 she started her bachelor in Fine Arts at Konstfack, University of Arts, Crafts & Design. Always Amber (release 2020) is her first feature film produced by Göran Hugo Olsson at Story AB.
